Homampour Law Firm Attorney Arash Homampour has written a column for the Daily Journal in regards to AB 2958 that took effect on January 1, 2023. The bill addresses the issue of non-attorneys practicing law. The legislature has heard the cries of California attorneys who have been rightly concerned about the potential harm to the public if non-attorneys provide legal services. As a result of AB 2958, any State Bar entity who has the goal of licensing non-attorneys is required to protect the public from “unscrupulous actors”, among other provisions. Arash believes, “These provisions should go a long way toward ensuring that consumers seeking legal help receive competent and professional advice.” Read Arash’s first article about this in 2021.
