It’s a tough time for anyone graduating college. Obviously, they’re less jobs, especially for college graduates or professionals because there’s less work. And I got to tell you, we feel for you because you’re saddled with student loan debts, where you live, especially Southern California, it’s probably very expensive to live. And you’ve got all these dreams and hopes that when you graduated college or when you graduated law school or medical school, that you’d be on your way and you’d finally be an adult. And here you are in an economy that’s not doing as good as it should in terms of the average worker and in terms of job opportunities being less. And all I have to say to you is it’s okay. Money isn’t everything. Enjoy your existence. Enjoy this sort of slowed pace of life. Use this opportunity maybe to be a better lawyer, to learn to be a better doctor, to learn to be a better human. I know that sounds like a lecture and everything, but it’s really true.
Look, I’ve gotten huge verdicts and I’ve achieved far more, far, far more than I ever would have imagined, and I’m considered one of the best at what I do. And I got to tell you, you’re never there. You’re never really where you think you’ve done it all and life’s over. You’re always learning. You’re always growing. There’s always something to make you smile and lights you up. And really, I think the best approach for everyone is just trying to be the best person they can. Use this downtime to get physically, mentally better, to sort of focus or refocus on what’s important, to cut the extraneous stuff, to remove the toxic people and behaviors, and really just focus on at core what makes you happy and what allows you to be the best version of you, so that you can make the biggest impact in this world.
And so while we’ve had a lot of suffering in terms of human life and loss, and a lot of people losing their job, really, we should all feel grateful that we have our health, that we have our loved ones and that we still live in the most awesome country in the universe where anyone can do anything and make a difference.
